This sterling silver matched salad serving fork and spoon pair are stamped Black, Starr & Gorham, for the circa 1940-61 New York City retailer. They are examples of the "Nordic" pattern made by Knut Gustafson, who was a member of the Chicago Arts & Crafts movement. The spoon and fork are each a lengthy 9 1/2" and together weigh a robust 8.1 T. oz. Apropos of Gustafson's Scandinavian heritage, the style is Danish Modern, in the manner of Georg Jensen. They are artfully made with overall hammered surfaces. Both items have an Old English "S" monogram. The condition is high quality estate. These come directly from a home and have suffered virtually no wear.
