This sterling silver spoon was made in the 1880's, according to Gorham's archival records. While its 8 3/4" length and large bowl suggest it is a berry spoon, that same archival record identifies it as a fruit spoon. It is numbered 386 and stamped with the Gorham lion, anchor, G mark and the word Sterling. It is decidedly Aesthetic and individualistic in style. The handle is wriggled and has an irregular leaf-engraved end. The bowl is coffered, and has a scalloped rim and engraved interior. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is outstanding. The form and finish are equally appealing.
