Gorham Sovereign Large Sterling Cold Meat Fork

Gorham's Sovereign is a 1941 pattern in the Danish Modern, a la Georg Jensen, style. This example is an 8 5/8" long, large cold meat fork. It is exceptionally heavy, weighing 3.0 T. oz. The craft work in this is also exceptional and suggests it was an early piece in the production cycle. The precision of the design reflects precise die work, and the finishing is equally refined. There is no monogram or monogram removal. Marks are the words "Gorham," "Sterling," and "Pat.", along with the lion, anchor, G emblem and the name of the pattern "Sovereign."
