These six, sterling silver teaspoons are slightly over-sized at 6 1/8" long. The four together weigh 4.0 T. oz. They all match, and have the same script "M.E. Rouse." engraving, and are stamped "S.S. Newton." In his book on pseudo hallmarks, John McGrew identifies Newton as a mid 19th century, Winchester (Winstead), Connecticut retailer. The style of these is decidedly New York, and as Winchester is in Litchfield County on the New York border, that connection is plausible. They also have a coin silver style sensibility to them, so they likely date no later than 1870. The condition is immaculate. These are very finely made items in pristine condition.
