This set of six, 6 3/4" long, sterling silver place aka dessert aka oval soup spoons are in Gorham's Hindostanee pattern. Hindostanee is an 1870's Persian or Moresque style pattern, somewhat akin to Gorham's Renaissance Revival Raphael. They all have an Old English "J" or "I" monogram. Typical of the line, they are relatively heavy, with the group weighing 7.0 T. oz. The condition of all six is outstanding. Pattern detail remains sharp and clear. The bowls are well-shaped, and free of dings, dents or burrs. Marks are the Gorham lion, anchor, G, and the words Serling and Pat. Appl. For, the last indicating these are first run items.
