This pair of 8 1/8" long place spoons were made by Philo Gilbert (New York) and retailed by Gaven Spence of Newark, New Jersey. The pattern is an olive variant marked "Patent 1859" and with Gilbert's pseudo hallmark. They are heavy, with the two weighing a combined 3.3 T. oz. Each one has a feathered script "PMS" monogram. The condition is excellent. There is no polishing wear, and the bowls are free of dings, dents, burrs, or tip wear. The finishes are lustrous.
