Whiting's Japanese is from the same 1870's period as Tiffany's pattern of the same name (later Audubon). Wood & Hughes and Wendt also produced quite similar designs. They all feature birds interpreted an an Eastern, or aesthetic, style. This is a 8 7/8" long berry spoon. It is without a monogram or monogram removal, and in immaculate condition. The matte finish bowl is bright cut engraved in a design that includes bamboo edging all around the perimeter. It is stamped with the Whiting logo, the word Sterling, and the number 1A on the reverse.
