Pair Boston Coin Silver Salt Cellars, Circa 1840

This offering is for two, matched, coin silver master salts made in Boston about 1840. Both are marked "Jones, Ball & Co." This was a predecessor firm to the renowned Shreve, Crump & Low. They are also identified as "Pure Silver Coin." Each one is round and sits on three pad feet legs. The top openings are 2 1/4" in diameter and are encircled by applied beaded rims. The maximum widths are approximately 2 3/4". The pair together weigh 3.3 T. oz. Each is monogrammed with an Old English "K" or "R." The condition is outstanding. The forms are excellent and have a fine finish. The rest evenly and are free of pitting, scratches or dents. The interiors show the original planishing marks. Pricing is for the pair.
