This late 1800's, sterling silver spoon is 6 7/8" long and is stamped "Sterling" and "A. Stowell & Co." for the Boston retailer. It is a Jac Rose engraved pattern, set on a satin matte ground. The reverse of the handle has a tipt end. The bowl is large relatively to the overall size of the piece, and slightly ovoid, 2 1/2" long by 1 7/8" at the widest. It has a pale gold wash on the interior. This is likely a jelly or preserve serving spoon. It is in excellent condition. The engraving remains sharp, detailed, and well-defined. The bowl is free of dings, dents, or burrs.
