This 7 1/8" long, medium weight, jelly or preserve spoon tells its own story, but only in part. The flat end handle engraved with ivy and wriggle work detailing, the beveled stem, and the lobed bowl all reflect a circa 1860 style of American coin silver. As this is only marked "Coin" and "10," however, the exact maker and locale for its production is uncertain. It is a handsome piece, and reflects a degree of sophistication that only an establish producer in an urban setting would have generated, so that much can be assumed. There is a script "H.G.S." monogram. The condition is excellent. The bowl is well-formed, and free of dings or dents. The finish is lustrous, and the engraving shows no signs of polishing wear.
