This sterling silver berry spoon is 8 3/8" long. Marked only "Sterling," the maker is unidentified and the pattern unnamed. The style suggests a date circa 1870. The design features a spray of flowers and leaves, and is in fact quite similar to Durgin's "Spray" of about the same period. The attractive bowl is a shell variant. It is lobed, has a scalloped rim, flanged shoulders, and interior engraving. The backside of the piece is entirely plain. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is excellent. The design remains sharp and clear; the bowl is free of dings, dents or burrs. Please note: there was one 1/8" tear in the bowl rim that has been professionally repaired.
