At 7" long, this hollow handle, solid coin silver bladed master butter knife is on the large size for this form. This particular item is a leaf and bead design, with a feathered script "SAW" monogram. The mark on the blade is an eagle, head, and V in a diamond. This is attributed to James Vancourt (NY), and is derivative of a short-lived partnership he shared with Albert Coles' nephew mid 19th century. The condition is very good. The handle has a few slight pinprick nicks, but the seams are tight, as is the join with the handle. The blade is even, flat and without burrs or signs of wear.
