Whiting Arabesque Strerling Pudding or Berry Spoon

This sterling silver pudding or berry spoon is 8 15/16" long. The pattern is Whiting's Arabesque. The primary feature of this design is a winged griffin or dragon figure set amid, apropos of the pattern name, a moresque design. This has a plum shaped bowl that has a flanged rim and central rib. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is very good. The first area of polishing wear on this design is the breast of the griffon. There is only slight softening there on this example, with the feathers largely still distinct. The bowl is free of nicks, dents or burrs. The overall finish is satin. Marks are the Whiting logo, the words Sterling and Pat. 1875, and the number 19.
