This sterling silver salt spoon is in an Ivy pattern that is attributed to John Westervelt of Newburgh, New York. It often appears unmarked, but in this instance is stamped with Westervelt's pseudo hallmark. It is also marked Sterling, dating it circa 1870 or later, when Westervelt shifted from a coin standard. It is a quality example that is 3 3/4" long, solid weight, and with a gold washed shell bowl. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is excellent, with no polishing wear, and a fine finish.
