At 7 1/4" long, this circa 1800, 1.0 T. oz., Sayre and Richards (NY) coffin end (dessert) spoon is an unusual length. It is a well-crafted piece of appealing style. It has a slender, elongated look, with a narrow shank and broad end. The bowl is tapered and has an exposed drop. There is a carefully articulated "MAM" feathered script monogram. The condition is flawless, with a well-shaped bowl that is free of dings, dents, or burrs. The reverse is stamped "S&R" and an "F." The meaning of the later mark is uncertain, but it may be a journeyman's mark.
