This coin silver sugar shovel is 6 1/4" long. It is stamped with an arm, buffalo, eagle pseudo-hallmark. Citing Don Soeffing in Silver Magazine, McGrew (in his work on pseudo hallmarks) attributes this to John Putnam of Buffalo, New York, working 1836-48. This is a clean example, with a reverse tipt end, and a script "H.E.A." monogram. There is no wear, and the form and finish are equally appealing.
