Josephine is a late 19th century designed originated by Providence, Rhode Island's Howard Silver Company (this firm was later absorbed into Mt. Vernon Silver Co.) This particular piece is a 6" long youth fork that was retailed by Boston's Smith, Patterson Co. (so stamped on the reverse). There is no monogram or monogram removal. It is in excellent condition, with fine pattern detail, and even, pointed tines that are free of nicks, burrs of bends. Please note: there is on 1/16" scratch on the front. Marks are the Howard H, clover leaf, L emblem and the word Sterling, plus the aforementioned retailer's name.
