This 6 1/2" long, circa 1860, coin silver pastry fork is stamped "Pure Coin" and with the name of the retailer, Boston's A. Stowell. It has four tines, with a markedly wider fourth tine, for cutting. The shank is flat, with angular cuts and a double pedimented end. The surface densely engraved and bright cut with all manner of decorative elements, including swags, acanthus leaves, bell flowers, and roping. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is outstanding. The form is flawless, the engraving remains crisp and well-defined, and the finish is appealing.
