These 8 matching coin silver spoons in Wood & Hughes' Grecian are 8 5/8" long, and weigh 13.4 T. oz. the lot. They are true estate pieces, having been in the same family for roughly 140 years, until this offering. While thought of as tablespoons today, these were originally individual place pieces, used as large soups. Each one is monogrammed "Van Vleck" on the reverse, and stamped W&H and Patent 1864. They also carry the retail stamp for Cincinnati's W.W. McGrew. The condition is outstanding. The bowls are well-formed, and free of dents, burrs, or tip wear. Pattern detail remains well-defined, and possess finely patinated finishes.
