Crown is a Victorian silverplate pattern made by various Rogers companies. These four, 7" long lunch or tea forks are examples of the pattern made in sterling. They would have been special order items, made upon request. They are hefty, with the four weighing 5.0 T. oz. Each of them is monogrammed "MEG" in cursive on the front, and "1878," on the heel. The date is telling, in that the style of the design mirrors this period's sensibilities. The condition is outstanding. The tines are straight and show but scant wear. There is a bit of polishing softening on the pattern, but it remains quite crisp and well-defined. These are all stamped "Sterling," with no further identifiers.
