This sterling silver trophy has hallmarks for Birmingham, England, 1923. It is a golf handicap prize awarded in 1924 by the Bedfordshire County Golf Association to H.M. Coombs. It has rested with a member of this family until this offering. The design of is appealing in its own right, apart from the golf association. It has two handles, stands 5 1/8" high to the rim, and 5 3/4" to the top of the handle. It has a top diameter of 3 1/2" and a base diameter of 2 1/2". The weight is 5.1 T. oz. The handles are particularly attractive, as they feature dolphin-like creatures on the lower portions, and a form that suggests ducks' heads on the upper portions. The condition is excellent. The piece sits evenly, retains its round form, and has a fine finish. The handles are free of dents or splits. There are perhaps three pinprick dimples on the lower portion of the body, and truly of no consequence.
