This pair of coin silver tablespoons were made by Newport, Rhode Island's William S. Nichols. They are coffin end style, dating circa 1805. Measuring a lengthy 8 7/8", their slender proportions make them appear bigger yet. The pair together weigh just over 3.0 T. oz. Each of them has a feathered "A" monogram and is stamped "Nichols" on the backside. They have interesting lined arc drops on the bowl backsides. The condition is very good. The form is excellent, with straight shanks, and unworn beveled edges to the coffin end. The bowls are well-shaped, with slight unevenness and minimal wear on the tips.
