The form of this 9" long, sterling silver berry spoon evolved in the 1860's, and was carried on for about a decade. This piece was made by Whiting, has a tubular shank that divides into three wires where it joins the bowl. The end of the handle has a Gothic design pediment that features a cattail motif. The bowl is plum-shaped, has a flanged rim, a slightly pointed tip, and is finished in a mostly intact gold wash. The condition is excellent. There are scant signs of wear, and no damage whatsoever. The only mark is Sterling.
