The Heritage Foundation work on New England Silversmiths by Flynt & Fales offers biographical information on William Cadogan Simes, the maker of this 5" long, coin silver coffee spoon. His dates are 1773-1824, with the style of this suggesting somewhere mid-range in those years. His marks are several, with the one on this large block lettering. The piece is plain save for a fancy feathered cursive monogram. The condition is very good. The form is flawless, and the finish nicely patinated. The bowl is well-shaped and free of dings or burrs.
