The origin of this pair of coin silver master salts lies in mid 19th century Boston. Stamped "Jones, Ball & Co.," along with "Pure Silver Coin" and "Boston," they are part of the lineage that traces to today's Shreve, Crump & Low. The JB & Co. name was used 1853-55. These are 2 1/2" wide, stand 1 1/2" high, and weigh 4.3 T. oz. the pair. They have three pad feet each and applied beaded rims. There are (rubbed) Old English "K" monograms. The interiors show the planishing marks of the silversmith who crafted these by hand. The condition is very good. They stand evenly, are free of dings or dents, retain round shapes.
