This 6 3/4" long, mid 19th century, item is a rarity. It is most like a mustard ladle, save the bowl end is actually a cupped fork. A best guess on function is that it is for olives. The length suggests it was used in a jar or caster. It is a very handsome piece, with a fan-shaped handle that is elaborately cut in a pattern that resembles Gorham's or Wood & Hughes' die struck "Grecian." There is a reserve for a monogram, but there is none, nor removal. It has a gold wash finish on the bowl and extending well up the shank. The condition is flawless. There are no marks whatsoever.
