This mid 19th century coin silver pie server is exceptionally large. It measures 10" long, and has a serving blade that is 4 7/8" by 3" at the widest. It weighs a robust 3.4 T. oz. The maker was New York's Albert Coles. He employed a leaf pattern that several makers of the period produced in variation. The most well know of these is Gorham's Josephine. This is a particularly fine example in outstanding condition, and with intricate engraving on the blade. There is a double monogram comprised of ascript "LS" overlaid with an Old English "B." The mark is Albert Coles three part eagle, AC, head.
