John Wood is listed by Ensko as advertising in Maiden Lane (Manhattan) in 1770, and also working in Schenectady, NY 1780-92. No death date is offered, but this 5 1/8" long coffin end spoon would have to date close to 1800, so he must have carried on after 1792. It is a fine, clean, example with a feathered script "TTS" monogram. There is an appealing diamond pattern on the shoulders at the join of the handle. This is created by beveling the edges. Apart from two pinpricks in the bowl, which is otherwise well-shaped and free of tip wear, the piece is flawless.
