Measuring 7 1/2" high to the top of the lid, 5 1/2" to the rim, and having a top diameter of 3 3/4" and a base of 2 5/8", this martini or cocktail shaker holds about 18 ounces. It is fully marked as silver-soldered electroplate (e.p.) by Tiffany & Co., and likely dates 1925-50. The construction of this is unusual. It has an attached strainer on the underside of the lid and a 1 1/2" diameter fitted sleeve with a gadrooned rim for pouring. This slides freely such that it seals the cover when upright, and opens to the grillwork below when tilted downward. This obviates the need for a cap. As this is marked "Patent," that could be a reference to this mechanism or the form itself, or both in combination. The piece is in excellent condition. It is free of dents, dings, or plate loss. The interior base shows some plate wear. There is no monogram or inscription.
