Item #6891

This is an extremely difficult to find antique Wedgwood, England dark blue jasper or jasperware dip tobacco jar or thermidor with it's original inside tamper lid which is usually lost or broken. The tobacco canister measures 6.5 inches high by 4.5 in diameter and has a classical design called Sacrifice Figures in applied white jasper. The lid of the jar features a taper or small candle holder. The jar is pictured on page 143 of Wedgwood Jasper Ware by Michael Herman with a slightly different set of figures. The tobacco jar was made 1870-1891 and is in excellent condition. There are 3 extremely tiny fleabites on the rim, but that is the only flaw. The mark is an extremely faint WE and some additional letters like LEA. The thermidor is fabulous and a wonderfully decorative item as well as being extremely collectible. Shipping in the US by USPS Priority registered signature required is $25.15.
