This is an antique victorian English sterling silver card case we brought home from Glastonbury, England. The hallmarked sterling silver and all over heavily embellished hand chased repousse castle design has a different scene each side and is marked with the lion for sterling, head, date letter for 1835 and the anchor for Birmingham. The maker's mark is TandP for Taylor and Parry, a well known maker of exceptional quality small silver items during the second quarter of the 19th century. The card case measures just over 3.75 inches high by 2.5 inches wide by .5 inches deep. The design is fabulous even to the ducks and man rowing in the lake in front of the castle. There is a small dent in the castle type lid corner. The hinge works well but could use a bit of tightening. The case is truly a work of art and an example of the skill of 19th centruy English silversmiths.England.
