This is a rare British Royal Commemorative mug with a figural handle of the king's initials made for the coronation of King Edward VIII of England in 1937. The coronation never took place as Edward abdicated the throne to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. His brother was crowned in his place as King George VI, father of the present Queen Elizabeth II. The bone china mug measures 3.25 inches high and has super color graphics as well as the dedication and figural ER handle. The mug was made by what became Windsor bone china a few years later which was then called the Co operative Wholesale Society and handled the work of several small but skilled potteries in Longton, Stoke-On-Trent England. The mug is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. A wonderful find from our last buying trip to England. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured.
