Vintage Coach Bag
John Forgerty "Put Me in, Coach"
The founder of Coach Purses, Lillian Cahn, recently died at the age of 89 in March of 2013. She started the company in the 1940s. She creatively observed shopping bags and opened factories where they could be made out of leather. By the 1980’s the company was selling over 2 million dollars in hand bags. For around 30 million dollar it was sold to the Sara Lee Corporation where it grew even larger. Today people recognize coach not by the baseball leather type gloves the bags used to be made of, but the large “Cs” and the expensive price tags.
