Every now and then one finds a piece which captures the Zeitgeist of the late Victorian era. This little brooch, with its highly naturalastic subject matter and "picture in a frame" motif is just such an example. Length 1 by 1 1/4 inches excluding frame ends, two well modeled and finely cast birds applied to body, excellent condition, with registry mark only (please see third photo); year 1879.
