Robert Swan, Philadelphia circa 1795. As readers of this page will know, every now and again we have the good fortune to come upon an object that's been tucked away in a drawer for some unknown reason, and seldom if ever used. Who knew that such a thing even existed? Look at the front at you've got Buttercup; look at the back and there's nothing but "GORHAM STERLING" staring up at your face. No pattern. The kind woman who brought these into my shop said that she'd received them as a wedding present in the late 1940's. 2 3/4 inches long, excellent condition, gilt bowls, no monogram.
