Old French is a beautiful Gorham pattern patented in 1904 which was based on the early French thread, with the suggestion of a soft “tip” that marked the French prototype. Like its predecessor, Old French is heavy with simple elegance. There are 5 dinner knives (9.75 in.), and two groups – one of 5, and one of 2 – of luncheon knives (8.75 in.), all with old French stainless blades. The condition is good – that is, they have no splits or serious dents or scratches, but there are minor ones consistent with their age' the photos show the dents (which are actually worse in the pictures). They actually present well. The 5 large and 5 small ones have a monogram of HH; one of the 2 others has a gothic C, and the other a trailing script MLB. As frequently with knives, especially when they were originally part of a set, the only marks are a shallow 'sterling handle,' and on the blade is 'stainless,' but there is no question that these were made by Gorham. Price is per piece, depending on the size.
