Offered is a nice American coin silver teaspoon marked J.W.JOHNSTON and also marked with a wheel-form manufacturer's mark often associated with Detroit. The only J. W. Johnston I've found is a jeweler working in Pittsburgh between at least 1863-67, and because spoons with this mark are sometimes found here in Pittsburgh, I've tentatively assigned this mark to that man. Offered is a nice example of a form and style particular to Baltimore in the 1820s-40s, a spatulate swell-handled spoon with pointed Philadelphia-style shoulders and a monogram perched almost mid-way down the handle. In this case, the period script initials are "AHS". This piece bears a maker's mark for Samuel Kirk, and a 10:15 fineness mark for the silver quality. Offered is a lovely English brass candlestick dating from the end of Queen Anne's reign, more than three centuries ago. Offered is a lovely and well-made George III sterling silver gravy ladle or sauce ladle hallmarked for London, 1772, and engraved with an armorial of an eagle's head or perhaps phoenix's head erased. Offered is a good 1790s American coin silver teaspoon by noted silversmith Thomas Arnold (1735-1828), who worked in Newport circa 1760-1817. Mr. Arnold had the interesting habit of marking many of his spoons, like this one, with both his initials mark and his full name mark. Offered is a nice American coin silver fork in the Queen's pattern or a variant thereof, by noted maker William Ingalls Tenney (1806-1848), probably dating to the 1820s before he went into partnership in 1828. Offered is a scarce example of the silverwork of Amos Doolittle (1754-1832), a New Haven, Connecticut silversmith. Mr. Doolittle is equally well known for having served in the American Revolution; he was one of the men who marched under the command of later turncoat Benedict Arnold in the Spring of 1775.
