Offered is an interesting American coin silver teaspoon circa 1825-50 marked SCOTT in a primitive scalloped punch. I'm not sure of the maker or the location this spoon was made; there were both Northern and Southern makers by this name. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the origin of this spoon. This spoon has an unusual period engraved script monogram that appears to be "ZO". The maker's mark is clear and legible. This spoon measures about 6 3/16 inches in length, and weighs about 19 grams. ...

Offered is an American coin silver teaspoon made by Hotchkiss & Schreuder of Syracuse, NY, and retailed by one "E. Ferris", location unknown. I've not come across this retailer's mark before. This spoon also has a period engraved script name of "E. M. Conklin" for the original owner. This spoon measures about six inches and weighs about 20 grams. Condition is poor overall, as the bowl has a split (please see the pictures); otherwise the spoon is in typical antique condition. All in all a ni...

Offered is a nice American coin silver teaspoon by Benjamin Pitman (1800-1886), working circa 1820-1870 in New Bedford, Massachusetts (though he grew up, presumably trained, and was married in Rhode Island). This piece has a clear maker's mark, a PURE COIN mark, and a period engraved script monogram to the reverse. This spoon measures about six inches in length and weighs about 17 grams. Condition is fairly good overall, with a couple of small dings (please see all pictures) but no splits or ...

Offered is a pair of early 19th Century American coin silver teaspoons by David B. Cumming of Philadelphia, working there circa 1810-15. These teaspoons are transitional fiddle in form, without shoulders. They measure about 5 7/16 inches in length, and weigh a total of about 30 grams. Condition is fair at best in that they have unfortunately been buffed, and have therefore lost their monograms and patina, and have rubbed maker's marks. Nonetheless, they are perfectly useful for one's morning...

Offered is a very good American coin silver teaspoon by the little-known 1840s partnership of Jones & Wilson, working in St. Louis. This piece has a period engraved owner's name ("C. L. Stevens") in lovely script, and a clear maker's mark as well as a city mark. This spoon measures about 6 3/8 inches in length and weighs about 20 grams. Condition is fairly good overall, with some bumps to the bowl but no splits or repairs. Please take a look at all of the pictures. All in all a lovely examp...

Offered is a rough but scarce American coin silver teaspoon bearing the mark of Alton, Illinois jeweler and watchmaker Edward H. Goulding, whose biographical information appears below. This is a rare mark, and the only example I've seen of it. This spoon should date to the 1852-70 period, and probably 1865 or earlier. It features a clear strike of Goulding's mark and a period engraved script monogram. This piece measures about 6 inches in length and weighs about 14 grams. Condition is fair ...

Offered is a good American coin silver teaspoon by John Shaw & Co. of St. Louis; John Shaw used this company mark in approximately the 1842-52 period, and later this mark was cut down to remove the "& Co." portion. As such, this spoon should date to that 1842-52 period. It is marked with a clear maker's mark and a period engraved script "MES" monogram. This piece measures about 5 15/16 inches in length and weighs about 17 grams. Condition is fairly good overall, with some dings to the bowl, b...

Offered is an interesting set of four 19th Century Scottish sterling silver tea or coffee spoons embossed or decorated with what appears to be a grape vine motif, fully hallmarked for a maker of T&Co., and Glasgow, 1891. These spoons measure about 4 7/8 inches in length, and the set weighs about 57 grams altogether. Condition ranges from good to fair, with some two spoons in basically good condition with modest wear, and two having bowls out of round or slightly dimpled. It's still worth keep...

Offered is a lovely American coin silver cream or sauce ladle by Joseph Sewall Porter (1783-1862), working in Utica, NY circa 1803-62. This ladle probably dates to about 1820-35, by style. It has sugarloaf shoulders common to Utica silver, and a period engraved script monogram of "DB". It also has a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a later (but 19th Century) engraved date of 1806 to the reverse. This piece measures about 5 3/4 inches in length and weighs about 19 grams. It is in very goo...

Offered is a beat-up late 18th or early 19th Century American coin silver teaspoon by noted Philadelphia silversmith Joseph Lownes (1758-1820). This piece has a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a worn period engraved script monogram. It measures about 5 5/16 inches in length and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is fair at best, with some dings and tip wear, and a fair amount of surface wear. There are no splits or repairs noted. I'd rather not see it scrapped, and it could still serve th...

Offered is a nice example of a coin silver spoon evidently made as a toy or for the use of a small child, measuring 4 3/16 inches in length and weighing about 7 grams. Ordinarily I might assume this is simply a spoon form (as opposed to ladle form) master salt spoon, but with the engraving of the name "Bertie" (a diminutive of "Robert"), I have to assume it was made for a child. This piece has no maker's mark, but by style it should date to the 1825-50 period. It has some wear and small dings...

Offered is a beat-up but quite scarce example of a Philadelphia coin silver teaspoon, circa 1810-14, bearing the maker's mark of Thomas W. Harper (the manufacturer) and Joseph Anthony & Son (the retailer); silver with any of Mr. Anthony's marks is uncommon, let alone with Harper's mark also. This piece has worn but legible marks and a period engraved script monogram. It measures about 5 5/8 inches in length and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is poor overall, with a lot of surface wear and s...

Offered is a nice shellback coin silver silver spoon marked with probably New York manufacturing marks, and the name of the retailer, one J.K. McDonald. This person was probably in New York, but I'm not completely sure. This spoon has legible marks and a period engraved monogram. It measures about 6 1/8 inches in length and weighs about 19 grams. Condition is fair, with a fair amount of wear and some small dings here and there, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice coin silver spoon!

Offered is a city-marked New Hampshire coin silver spoon by Stanford Hovey and Amos Parker, working as Hovey, Parker & Co. circa 1850-52 in Manchester, NH. This spoon has good marks and a period engraved owner's name on the handle, which is unusual enough to likely be traceable. This spoon measures about 5 7/8 inches in length and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is fair, with some dings and bends but no splits or repairs. All in all an interesting piece with a relatively scarce maker's mark...

Offered is a nice American coin silver spoon circa 1815, give or take five years, with a maker's mark of "O.&C." and a period engraved script monogram of "UT". The maker is unknown, at least to me - while Ott & Cluff of Virginia has been suggested, this spoon feels to be a bit late for that partnership. As such, it is a bit of a mystery! This piece measures about 5 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 12 grams. Condition is fair overall, with some small waves in the handle and a few minor d...
