Philadelphia Coin Silver Tablespoon by William Miller
$37.50
A very good early American coin silver table spoon marked W.MILLER with a pseudo-hallmark of an eagle. This mark is sometimes given to a South Carolina silversmith by the name of William Miller, but the weight of evidence is that this mark is one of the marks used by Philadelphia silversmith William Miller, working circa 1810-40. So, likely not Southern coin silver. This spoon is in excellent condition, with no dents, splits or repairs, and only moderate wear from normal usage. It is engraved with a period script monogram of ES, and has a clear maker's mark. This piece measures about 9 1/8 inches in length and weighs 44 grams. A fine piece of American coin silver!
