Offered is a very early early (circa 1760-80) American coin silver tea or coffee spoon that appears to have a maker's mark of BB, for which there would be several candidates. This piece measures about 4 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 10 grams. This spoon has some condition issues in that there is a fissure on the front stem from the stress of where the maker's mark was struck, and the spoon has been buffed. There are also some planishing marks visible on the end of the underside of the bowl, indicating the bowl was reworked to make it even and eliminate tip wear. The maker's mark is rubbed due to the buffing. Still, an interesting piece worth saving from the scrappers. All in all a nice earlier piece of Pre-Revolutionary American coin silver!
