SOLD

Offered is an interesting and heavy early American coin silver table spoon by scarce Connecticut silversmith Christopher Gallup; by style, this piece should date to about 1810 but could be a few years earlier or later. This piece bears Gallup's maker's mark of CG in a serrated rectangle, and is engraved with period script initials CMG. This spoon measures about 9 1/8 inches in length and weighs about 55 grams. Condition is fair, with the bowl a bit out of round and having modest tip wear, but with no splits or repairs. The maker's mark is rubbed but legible. All in all a fine early piece by an uncommon maker!

Christopher Gallup was born in 1764, died in 1849, and worked in North Groton, CT.
