Offered is a spare copy I picked up of a very important and useful reference book on the hallmarks of Naples, Italy, from the 15th through the 19th Centuries. Much of the antique domestic Italian silver that appears in the United States came with immigrants, and many of those came from Naples and other parts of Southern Italy as well as Sicily. As such, the book gets more use than one would think!

The book is: "I marchi dell'argenteria napoletana: Dal XV al XIX secolo" by Elio Catello (1996). This is a first edition, published in paperback form in 1996, and is still the current edition in terms of content, which has not changed. This is the definitive reference on Naples silver marks, and it is hard to find in the U.S. - the cheapest copy on Amazon is $91. This book is profusely illustrated with maker's marks and city marks, etc. I have invariably been able to find the maker's behind the marks on Naples pieces I've had, and this book is well worth the investment. Please see all the pictures for example pages.

This copy is in good used condition, with a little scuffing and creasing to the front cover, but no damage to the pages, which are clean and bright. The cover is firmly attached and the book is in good shape overall. All in all a nice addition to any silver collector's reference library!
