Offered is a very good American coin silver teaspoon by Wilmington silversmith James Guthre (1796-1877), who was working by about 1820 and continued to work for a fairly long period of time. Guthre was fairly prolific and this piece is a good example of his work. It bears a clear strike of his maker's mark and a well-executed period engraved script monogram. This piece measures about 6 inches in length and weighs about 20 grams. Condition overall is good, with a very minor, shallow dimple or two in the bowl and some modest wear and small marks from normal use. All in all a fine example of antique Delaware silver!
