Offered is a nice set of three Kentucky silver tablespoons from the Louisville establishment of Gustav Adolph Schultz (b. 1842, d. 1892), engraved for the Pate family of that city. Please see my other listings for a table fork and a teaspoon from the same service. These tablespoons each measure about 8 1/4 inches in length and the set of three weighs about 143 grams altogether. Each tablespoon bears a manufacturer's mark for Wood & Hughes and a retailer's mark of G.A.SCHULTZ. They are sterling rather than Southern coin silver, right at the transition to the sterling standard. They probably date to the very early 1870s. Condition is fair at best overall, as each spoon has some tip wear and one spoon has some dimples in the bowl. There are no splits or repairs noted. All in all a good set of Southern silver table spoons!
