Coin Silver Sauce Ladle Ca. 1816-26 by James Fitch of Auburn, New York
$25.00
Offered is a lovely American coin silver sauce ladle bearing the maker's mark J.FITCH in a rectangular punch, with a mark of a sheaf of wheat accompanying the maker's mark. This mark is given to James Fitch of Auburn, NY, working circa 1816 to 1826. This piece has a light but legible maker's mark and pseudo-hallmark. It also features a very nicely engraved period script monogram. This ladle measures about six inches in length and weighs about 24 grams. Condition is fair, as there is a small, well-done repair to the side of the bowl (see pictures), but otherwise no splits or repairs. All in all a nice decorative or usable coin silver serving piece!
