Offered is a nice early 19th Century American coin silver teaspoon by little-known maker John Kinnicutt Pitman (1779 - 1819), working in Providence, Rhode Island between about 1800 and 1819. This piece has a good legible maker's mark for John K. Pitman, also used by his father (who died in 1804), according to William Voss' website. This spoon also has a good period engraved script "JES" monogram. This spoon measures about 6 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 15 grams. Condition is fair overall, with moderate wear and a few small dings, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of the work and mark of this short-lived Rhode Island silversmith!
