Nice Coin Silver Toy Spoon or Baby Spoon Ca.1825-50, Engraved "Bertie"
$24.00
Offered is a nice example of a coin silver spoon evidently made as a toy or for the use of a small child, measuring 4 3/16 inches in length and weighing about 7 grams. Ordinarily I might assume this is simply a spoon form (as opposed to ladle form) master salt spoon, but with the engraving of the name "Bertie" (a diminutive of "Robert"), I have to assume it was made for a child. This piece has no maker's mark, but by style it should date to the 1825-50 period. It has some wear and small dings, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of this form!
