Offered is a nice and scarce American coin silver teaspoon in the fiddle and thread (fiddlethread) pattern, by Oscar S. Jennings, working in New York circa 1837-58 and in New Orleans around 1860-62. The fiddlethread pattern was popular in both New York and New Orleans throughout Jennings' working period, but it seems he was mostly focused on selling pistols and swords in New Orleans during the beginning of the Civil War - it's more likely, though not certain, that this spoon dates to his New York period. This teaspoon measures about 5 7/8 inches in length and weighs about 24 grams. It has a legible maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram of perhaps "WJO". Condition is very good overall, with modest wear but no major dents and no splits or repairs. Please take a look at all of the pictures. All in all a nice example with an uncommon mark!
