SOLD
Offered is a scarce early American coin silver teaspoon by Chambersburg, Pennsylvania clockmaker and silversmith Charles Young (fl. 1791-1833), circa 1791-1800. It is unusual to find such early American silver from a Chambersburg craftsman, and Charles Young's work is rare.
This spoon is marked with a clear strike of Charles Young's maker's mark (see pictures), and this spoon is also decorated with a period engraved script monogram. This spoon measures about 5 3/8 inches in length, and weighs about 11 grams. Condition is fair at best, with a lot of small bends and some tip wear, but no splits or repairs. Please review all of the pictures. All in all a nice example of very early Chambersburg coin silver!
