Offered is a nice American coin silver tablespoon with a clear maker's mark of D.W & Co., and a period engraved script monogram (with a slightly later but period additional letter added below, perhaps for a marriage). By style, this spoon should date to about the 1810-20 period, give or take five years. However, the maker's mark is unknown, at least to me. It could be David Weatherly of Philadelphia, but the spoon seems different than Weatherly pieces I've handled. As such, I'm not sure of the exact origin of this piece - it might be a sleeper! If someone can definitively identify this mark, I'd be happy to send them a coin silver teaspoon or give them $15 off their next order. Please take a look at all of the pictures!
This table spoon measures about 9 inches in length and weighs about 48 grams. It is in good condition overall, with moderate tip wear but no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of this mark and a lovely two-hundred year old silver tablespoon!
